Taylor Smith Inspiring Gratitude with Her ‘Train With Me’ Challenge
Lifelong athlete Taylor Smith has known the joy of being active for as long as she can remember. A thriving heptathlete (a track and field competition combined) in her school days and an AFL professional athlete today, focus and commitment are deeply ingrained attributes.
Debuting in the AFL with the Gold Coast SUNS right out of high school, Taylor earned her selection for the Queensland Under 18 team and represented the SUNS in their Winter Series in the forward line. Ahead of the 2021 NAB AFLW season, she was picked up in a trade with the SUNS to enter the den and join the Brisbane LIONS. From then until now, Taylor has been kicking goals. She currently plays ruck-forward with the LIONS and has flourished throughout the 2021 Premiership season and beyond.
How does a young athlete kick off so strong? She sets goals. Lots of them. Small, achievable, day by day, week by week and longer goals to keep focussed. To stay motivated, she leans on her community.
This is how she found PUML.
Through a strong support system, her peers in AFL and her family, Taylor has understood how critical it is to build a community that will drive and motivate you. When discovering PUML Better Health, it was the challenges that caught her interest. Having a community helps to inspire. With the PUML app, you engage with a community of like-minded people trying to achieve similar goals. These people help you to get up and move on the days you don’t feel like it. These people make you want to compete and engage, and they can become friends on or off the platform.
Inspired by the challenges, Taylor and PUML connected to make her very own.
What is the PUML Train With Me Campaign?
Connecting inspiring athletes with a community keen to engage and get active, PUML’s Train With Me campaigns are designed to encourage better health and wellbeing for everyone in the community. Supported by the Queensland Government’s ActiveKIT program, PUML collaborates with women in sport to develop their own challenges based on their interests and ethos.
These campaigns are built on PUML’s blockchain-based app. Decentralised software allows us to build in bigger incentives for users. Rather than traditional gamification, PUML offers real rewards to participants, such as PUML Coins and NFTs made by your favourite athletes.
With PUML Coins, you can buy cool products and services from our marketplace, or you could donate your earnings to a partner charity of your choice. The digital assets you earn on PUML hold real-world value.
Train With Me: Taylor Smith
Passionate about community, health and gratitude, Taylor is running two Train With Me challenges on the PUML Better Health app. The first focussing on the body, a Step Challenge to get you moving, feeling active and feeling the benefits of physical health.
The next is all about fostering strong mental health. After losing her father, journaling became a powerful practice to help Taylor process her grief and take stock of what she has. Through her gratitude challenge, she hopes to inspire others to adopt this hugely valuable practice to look after mental health.
Taylor’s mantra is simple: “I try to be the best version of myself”, and now she is helping others to do the same.
To those looking to take steps to be happier and healthier, Taylor advises to never give up, always strive to be your best, work hard for the things you enjoy and don’t worry about what you “must” do. Be kind to yourself, always.
